Local Inventor Nails the Perfect Formula

McKinleyville, CA- At first glance quiet, mild-mannered Norm Polston seems like your average guy on the street. However, when you notice his brightly polished fingernails painted in a hue of shades you might want to take a second look.

Last November the Air Resources Board (ARB) which is the state agency responsible for cleaning California's air, adopted regulations that will affect a number of products currently on California retail shelves, including fingernail polish and polish remover.

According to Polston, the new laws are written to reduce harmful volatile organic compounds (VOC) emissions in California by 40% by 2010. Traditionally Go Natural Nail Polish and Polish Remover has been purchased by women who are sensitive to chemicals or odors, but over the last couple of years our market has grown significantly to include women who are concerned about their health and the health of our planet. And now with the changes occurring in California law, it looks like water-based nail polish such as Go Natural may become a household name."

According to a statement from the Air Resources Board, other products that commonly used VOCs include gasoline, alcohol, and the solvents used in paints. These products often have a strong odor, and contribute to the creation of ground level ozone and particulate matter. These can lead to respiratory problems, aggravate asthma, impair the immune system, and increase the risk of premature death.

According to Polston one of the reasons that his polish is receiving such interest is that there's nothing else out there like it. "There are other natural polishes but none that I am aware of, that have the look and glamour appeal of Go Natural. The product comes in a variety of beautiful colors and lasts longer than most other natural nail polishes."

Polston holds a PhD in Organic Chemistry and has invented a number of other natural products under the business name, Mad River Science. Other products he has invented include a line of cosmetics and toys that are safe for young people.
